Synopsis of chapter 7

The story continues.

The whole neighborhood laughs about Diarmaid and Sadhbh thinking she was to be engaged to Séadna and making a scene. People wonder why Séadna doesn't want to marry. Séadna thinks about it, too, having gone off on his own.

Gobnait interrupts with a silly story. They clarify the story (Séadna) amonst themselves.

Séadna is very generous to the poor. Anyone who needed anything he would help, except for one apparently wealthy person - no one knows why. Séadna works hard making shoes, and freely lends or gives away his money.

Séadna thinks about what he's done, and his time running out, and decides to spite the devil by doing good things with the money, "ar son an tSlánaitheora."
